What that money does buy is time. Reading months of threads and review-site history for one tool, working through its documentation and pricing tiers, and checking the current price with the vendor takes days per tool. The commissions pay for those days. ### What the money cannot move Rankings are ordinal and the rubric is published at [how we research](/methodology). Every tool we recommend carries a named drawback, including whichever one we rank first. A recommendation with no stated cost is the clearest sign a page was bought.
