HubSpot review

HubSpot is a customer platform that aligns marketing, sales and service around one CRM record.

Our verdict

HubSpot is the pick for a sales-led team that wants pipeline reporting and access by the seat, including a free CRM for two users. The price rises when you add seats, add-ons or marketing contacts. Agencies that resell software under their own name will not find a white-label mode here.

I would keep HubSpot when a sales team needs pipeline reporting and access governed by the seat, and I would open the GoHighLevel comparison when the work is client accounts, SMS and funnels in one login.

HubSpot sells a customer platform. Marketing, sales and service sit on one CRM record, and the hubs are priced as seats. Its pricing page opens with a free CRM for up to two users and no card. Paid Starter is a per-seat promo after that, and the Starter page says the bill changes if you add seats, buy an add-on, or pass a marketing-contact tier.

The page that puts this beside GoHighLevel is GoHighLevel vs HubSpot. Read that if you are choosing between them. This review stays on the CRM.

SMS, client sub-accounts and white-label resale are the agency product's pitch, which is why they show up in that comparison rather than as HubSpot features. The vendor pages sell the shared customer record, and the reporting that people who have used both call a better fit for a sales team.

Pros and cons

What works

  • HubSpot includes a free CRM for two users, with no credit card required, so a sales team can run the pipeline before paying for a seat.
  • People who have used both describe the CRM and the reporting as a better fit for a sales-led business.
  • Marketing, sales and service share one customer record, which is the shape HubSpot sells on its own product pages.
  • The Starter page points buyers to a marketplace of integrations around that record.

What to watch

  • The Starter bill changes when you add seats, buy an add-on or a capacity pack, or pass a marketing-contact tier.
  • White-label resale is unavailable. An agency that wants to sell the software under its own name uses a different platform for that, and still has HubSpot's CRM and hubs for its own pipeline.
  • People who have used both say it covers more of a sales process and takes more effort to run.
  • People who left HubSpot say the bill climbs once marketing automation is turned on.

Who each tool fits

Long-form Reddit comparisons frame HubSpot as stronger for sales-driven businesses that need polished CRM reporting, and GoHighLevel as faster for automation-heavy local or agency client work.

Pricing complaints

A common complaint

People who switched say HubSpot's costs rise quickly once marketing automation and contact tiers are on the bill. Going over the marketing-contact allowance can keep the higher tier in place until renewal.

Agency economics

Agency operators moving from HubSpot often cite per-client billing pain on HubSpot versus flat sub-account pricing on GoHighLevel, while acknowledging weaker reporting and deliverability on GHL.

Pricing

Free tier available. Paid plans from $7/mo.

The figure above is the annual Starter promo per seat for new customers. Month-to-month billing is $10 per seat, and the list price is $20. Professional is $90 per seat and Enterprise is $175 per seat on the unified pricing page. The free CRM supports up to two users and requires no credit card. Adding seats, an add-on, or a higher marketing-contact tier changes the bill.
