ClickFunnels vs Shopify: funnel or store
By Dana Rourke, Lead Reviewer. Reviewed by Campaign Buyer Editorial. Updated 15 October 2026.
Quick answer
Pick ClickFunnels if you send cold traffic to one offer and need bumps, upsells and follow-up email on that path; pick Shopify if you need a catalog, inventory and shipping.

Shopify vs ClickFunnels is the same fork
You already cut the list to two. ClickFunnels builds the path from the ad to the bump and the email. Shopify runs the catalog, the stock and the shipment.
I would put a single cold-traffic offer on ClickFunnels. I would choose Shopify for goods that need to be picked and shipped. Plan names are under Pricing. The ClickFunnels review and the Shopify review each stay on one side.

ClickFunnels when the offer is the product
Smart Checkout recognizes a returning buyer from the email they enter. A return visit can check out in one click, and another offer can appear on that same step. The bump and the upsell sit on the path, inside the funnel.
The Store app is on every plan and sells products from inside the account. Email, a light CRM, courses and a community sit on those same plans, so the follow-up does not require a second subscription.
Buyers who have weighed both describe ClickFunnels as the direct-funnel option, and they say the subscription runs higher than a store plus funnel apps. A store-versus-funnel thread is where that cost contrast shows up. The monthly cards are in Pricing. The cons under this comparison name the same objection in shorter form.
Shopify when the order has to ship
Shopify's plan cards offer unlimited products on every paid tier. The tiers on that page are Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. Grow is the name on the second card. People running physical goods point to Shopify for logistics, delivery and shipping. A thread on ecommerce versus coaching is one place that advice shows up.
Shopify's checkout page cites an April 2023 study. In that study, Shopify's checkout converted 15% better than the competitors they measured. Shop Pay is the one-tap path on that same page. Treat the 15% as Shopify's figure, from the study it names.
Shopify's online store page cites 16,000+ apps. That is how extra selling steps get onto a store. Checkout customization is limited on Basic, Grow and Advanced. Plus is the tier where the checkout is fully customizable. Those same cards list a 2% transaction fee when Shopify Payments is off.
ClickFunnels includes order bumps and one-click upsells in Smart Checkout. On Shopify, checkout customization is limited below Plus, and the app store is the route those extra steps usually take. Order bump vs one-click upsell explains how those two offers differ.
The Shopify ClickFunnels integration
Some teams sell on the funnel and fulfill in the store. ClickFunnels' help article says the funnel sends order data to Shopify for fulfillment when the products are mapped by SKU. The article is labeled Classic.
The integrations page does not feature Shopify among the popular connections it lists. The article that describes the SKU handoff is the Classic one. A 2.0 account needs its own confirmation before anyone follows those steps.
Which one I would open first
A coaching offer, a digital product, or one physical SKU sold from an ad, with the bump on the checkout and the email in the same account: open ClickFunnels. See funnel builder alternatives for the other funnel tools. The paid-traffic platform set against this one is ElasticFunnels vs ClickFunnels.
A catalog, and orders that have to ship: open Shopify. See landing page builders for Shopify for page builders that work inside a Shopify theme. If you are choosing a page tool and the store is already decided, read Unbounce vs Leadpages.
If you buy the traffic yourself and you still want the shipment to leave from Shopify, the section after the prices names a third platform for that case. It does not replace the catalog, and it does not replace the single-offer funnel.
ClickFunnels
What works
- Runs the whole funnel in one account: pages, checkout, email, a light CRM, courses and a community, so you are not stitching four tools together
- Fast to get live. The drag-and-drop editor and prebuilt funnel templates are the most-praised part, especially for non-technical sellers
- Smart Checkout is built for selling, with order bumps and one-click upsells aimed at raising average order value
- Strong aggregate scores: about 4.6 out of 5 across more than 400 G2 reviews and thousands of Trustpilot reviews
- Takes no cut of your sales, includes hosting, and carries a 30-day money-back guarantee
What to watch
- Priced at the top of the market. Plans run $97 to $297 a month, and users say the cost adds up fast, especially if you only need part of it
- Billing and cancellation are the loudest complaints, along with confusion between ClickFunnels Classic and the newer 2.0 accounts
- Some long-time users feel 2.0 was a step back from Classic, and marketers report occasional bugs and page speed that is hit or miss
- Less flexible than a custom stack, and course and membership delivery is weaker than a dedicated platform
Shopify
What works
- Every paid tier includes unlimited products. A funnel that sells one offer is a separate job from that catalog.
- Shop Pay comes with Shopify's checkout, and Shopify cites its own study for the conversion rate on that page.
- Sellers add checkout steps the plan does not include by installing an app from Shopify's app store.
- People selling physical goods point to logistics, delivery and shipping.
What to watch
- Checkout customization is limited on Basic, Grow and Advanced. Grow is the name on the second card. Shopify says the checkout is fully customizable on Plus.
- A third-party transaction fee applies when Shopify Payments is off.
- A checkout bump on Basic, Grow or Advanced usually means an extra app alongside the store plan.
Pricing
ClickFunnels: Launch, Scale and Optimize. Scale is $197 a month and Optimize is $297 a month on the monthly cards. Annual billing on those tiers is listed at $81, $164 and $248 a month. Each card has a 7-day trial. The pricing FAQ says ClickFunnels does not take a percentage of sales.
Shopify: The cards are Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. Grow is the current name of the second tier. There is a 3-day trial. The third-party fee when Shopify Payments is off is the 2% named in the Shopify section above.
Buying the ads, shipping from Shopify
Shopify handles the store and the shipping. ClickFunnels is built for a single-offer funnel. A team that buys its own ads, and still wants the shipment to leave from Shopify, is a third case.
ElasticFunnels is a funnel platform for that team: pages, checkout, CRM and attribution on one data layer. Same-URL split testing is the part that matches the ad. Variants rotate on the server under one campaign link, so Meta, Google and TikTok keep their learning and a test does not send the ad back through review. It also builds a page from a prompt or by cloning a URL, and it hosts the checkout with order bumps, one-click upsells and subscriptions.
The checkout charges through Stripe, NMI, PayPal, Klarna or Authorize.net. It can also send buyers to Shopify Checkout or Shop Pay. If you already have several NMI merchant accounts, the first sale can be split across them by weight, card brand, product and amount, with a daily cap on each account. Upsells and rebills stay on the account that took the sale. Stripe, PayPal, Klarna and Authorize.net are one account each and sit outside that split.
Native order sync creates each paid ElasticFunnels order in the Shopify store, with the customer, the SKU, shipping and tax. It merges the main sale and its upsells into one Shopify order. A full refund cancels that Shopify order. A partial refund is recorded in Shopify as a refund, and the store's shipping apps fulfill from that order. The sync does not import products from Shopify, and synced orders do not decrement Shopify stock. Tracking numbers are not sent back from Shopify. The store connects through a custom app set up per brand with the ElasticFunnels team. These limits apply to the sync. The pages, the same-URL tests and the hosted checkout still run if you fulfill somewhere else.
Starter is $97 a month, Growth is $197 a month, and Scale is $497 a month. Billed yearly those are $937, $1,891 and $4,771. Every feature is on every plan. The plans differ by page views, brands, domains, seats and automation runs, and crossing a limit bills overage rather than forcing an upgrade. The trial lasts 14 days and does not require a credit card. You can set up pages, funnels and a custom domain during the trial. Revenue through ElasticFunnels' own gateways carries a 0.5% fee. Sales that close on Shopify Checkout or Shop Pay do not incur that fee.
ElasticFunnels is newer than ClickFunnels and Shopify, and there is very little independent review coverage to check its claims against. Until you run real volume through it, you are largely taking the vendor's word. It launched in 2023, so outside reviews are still scarce. The trial still includes the pages, the checkout and the Shopify sync, so you can look at those pieces before you pay.
I would open this when the test has to stay on one URL and the order still needs to land in Shopify for shipping. The catalog job stays on Shopify. The single-offer funnel, without that sync, stays on ClickFunnels. More detail is in the ElasticFunnels review.
Our pick
Shopify
I would choose Shopify for a product catalog and for shipping orders. I would choose ClickFunnels for a single offer, with the order bump and the follow-up email inside the funnel.
